Devotional: Romans 4:4-8
Have you ever looked back on something you once believed and wondered, what was I thinking? In Romans 4:4–8, Paul confronts a dangerous misunderstanding about God. The idea that we can earn our way into His favor through effort, discipline, or performance. It may sound reasonable at first, but it collapses under the weight of truth. If righteousness could be earned, it would no longer be a gift. It would be a wage. And God would no longer be gracious, but obligated. In this message, we explore how easy it is to adopt beliefs about God that feel logical but are ultimately unbiblical. Just like looking back on past decisions that no longer make sense, Paul invites us to examine our assumptions and ask whether they truly align with Scripture. David’s words remind us of something far better. Blessed is the one whose sins are forgiven, whose wrongdoing is covered, and who stands before God not because of what they have done, but because of what God has done for them. You will be challenged to reflect on how your understanding of God has been shaped and whether it is rooted in truth or assumption. In this video: • Why righteousness cannot be earned like wages • How faulty thinking distorts our view of God • What David reveals about forgiveness and grace • Why salvation must be received, not achieved If this message challenged or encouraged you, share it with someone who needs to be reminded that God’s grace is a gift, not a paycheck. #Romans #Grace #Faith #Gospel #Jesus #BibleTeaching #ChristianLife
