Divide a Rectangle Into Seven Equal Segments (No Ruler)

This is what ADHD looks like... mine anyway. I went to sketch a quick calendar to plan out my month of December. Just a simple box with a 7x5 grid. But as I went to divide the box into seven segments, I thought is there a way to, with some level of accuracy make the segments all the same width? So instead of just continuing to sketch out my calendar, which did not in any way need to be good or accurate, I decided to take this se7en segment side quest. Dividing by 2 4 8, etc. is pretty easy. You just eyeball "half" but 3, 5, 6, 7, etc. is not as easy. If you have a ruler, it's even easier than you might think. As you just use the whole units on your measuring device , it doesn't matter if they are not the same size as your segments, just as long as they are longer. You simply angle your ruler until your segment fit, and then draw parallel lines. There are lots of videos showing how to do it with a ruler, all of them more complicated than how I do it though, so I made a separate video showing how I "easily" divide a line into equal segments using a ruler: https://youtu.be/9svbH8GFkfM But if you don't have a ruler, I found this video showing how to use a bunch of lines to divide a box into thirds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LCYBEIR4nwM and I figured the technique should work for 7, and it does. Draw enough lines, and you will get perfect intersections for all 6 dividing lines, dividing the shape into seven equal segments. Now it's not the easiest, and it's something you would need to memorize or have a refence to be useful. Knowing which lines to draw, and which intersections matter. I'd also say it's only worth doing if you have a straight edge, as that will allow you to be far more accurate. As I show at the end of the video, just eyeballing it with a couple sets of ticks, got me just about the same result as my mess of intersecting lines. All that said, it was a pretty interesting side quest, and hopefully you found it interesting or useful . Music: YouTube Audio Library: New Morning - TrackTribe Sincerely, Nick D.
