Do you have a noisy family? Perhaps your floorplan is not conducive to blocking out unwanted noise. Both are the case for me. Not only does the master bedroom share an adjoining wall with the bedroom, but my family is LOUD! I will barricade myself in my bedroom to work when the family is home (which is most often). Even with the door shut and noise canceling headphones, they still create quite a bit of background noise. I was looking for a budget-friendly way to create noise reduction panels. Enter a few Dollar Tree items and Voila! You can follow along with materials and steps below if you would like to make your own. There is very little editing in this video. The goal was to show you real-time just how quick of a project these are. Materials 12"x12" Adhesive-backed carpet tiles (5) https://www.dollartree.com/assorted-carpet-squares-19frac34/114717 Foam Board (1) https://www.dollartree.com/readi-board-white-foam-boards/809955 Fabric or Sewing Scissors work best Optional: Pencil to trace Note: I found these carpet tiles at a local Dollar Tree. While they are avaiable to purchase online, I would recommend checking in-store first. Ordering from Dollar Tree’s website often has a minimum purchase requirement and come in a mixed variety of colors. However, both the carpet tiles and foam board have been linked. The adhesive is strong, so only remove backing once you are sure of placement. Directions 1. Lay foam board on your table or flat surface. 2. Do a “dry” fit to create the desired arrangement of carpet tiles. 3. Once you have the desired arrangement, peel the backing off the first tile. Place in the top corner and along the edge. 4. Repeat for the second tile. 5. Cut remaining tiles to cover the rest of the foam board. 6. Remove backing and place your tiles. 7. Your noise reduction panel is complete. You can hang it on a backdrop stand or garment rack using chip clips or clamps.
