Doom 2 Sunlust - Map 20 UVmax

This is probably one of the hardest maps in Sunlust, comparable to even map 28, in my opinion. In fact i have a higher survival rate in Maelstrom than in this mf. There many different ways to approach each situation, even if none of them feels ideal due to several constraints. These include awkward enemy positioning and severe ammo restriction, particulary in the first half of the map's progression. I refer specifically to all those revenants in elevated positions which the player might have to use the chaingun on and a rocket launcher that is pretty damn difficult to secure (and not that much ammo, if we consider the amount of hell nobles in that area). And then there's that cyber that can see the player on almost any point of the map - you can be killed by it even on the final area! One final note on the nobles in the yellow key area is that i skip them and come back later with he BFG. This not only alleviates the initial burden on ammo but also makes things faster and a lot more enjoyable. One of the most important decisions to make when routing his map is where to use the invulnerability, as many situations warrant its use. The area unlocked by the red key with the four cybers around a switch is one of them, as sometimes the game decides it's just not your day and they'll kill you as you get close. Perhaps the player is supposed to induce as much infighting with the cacos as possible so that maybe one or more cybers die, which would mitigate the RNG somewhat, but it's still a very random factor. The player could also take the invuln to the multidoor "crypt area" and effectively skip what's probably the hardest fight on the map. I, however, used it on the exit access "tower", because i wanted to lure the caco cloud to the boundaries of the final area and make them infight with the cybers there because i think that's kinda funny, even though i'll be at the mercy of all the RNG derived risk elsewhere. I had a lot of trouble in the blue key area as i took unexpected damage from a vile and was left with low health while dealing with barons, pain elementals and damaging floors, so gameplay slows down considerably at that point unfortunately. Still, i got a small reward at the end in the form of a pretty good dopamine hit at 16:27. Dopamine is in short supply these days.
