I didn't want to have the whole album be too melancholic, but for this track it felt like the best direction to go in order to do something different. Although the original beat definitely has a hint of sadness to it, I made it more upfront here with the strings and melodies. I also kept that smooth vibe, choosing this sample for that reason, the bassline especially had a nice flow from the chops I sequenced. I knew I was going to sample Sade for this beat to keep the atmosphere and vibe reminiscent of the original, and tried flipping tracks from all of her albums. This was like my 4th attempt at and it was by far my favourite, definitely a chilled vibe to calmly reflect on the classic track that I'm remixing. I put it at the start of the album for that reason, wanted to gradually build into the rest of the project which had higher energy and a bigger focus on celebrating DOOM.
