E-Collar 101

What is an E-collar and how does it work? One of the most common misconceptions that owners have is that an E-collar is a "shock collar". Nope. E-collars actually use similar technology to TENS/EMS units which are used on humans all the time in physical therapy! E-collars function like an "invisible leash". I work with dogs at the lowest level they can feel (you'll hear me refer to this as their "working level") to utilize the same pressure on/pressure off system we taught them with the prong collar! This enables you to communicate with your dog when they're both near and far, not just when you can make it to their leash.
