Embrace Interview 2026
Embrace nearly scrapped three songs at the last second before accidentally creating some of the best music of their career. Rick revealed the band’s upcoming ninth album “Avalanche” only truly came together right at the end when they realised the record was missing something important. After one final writing push, the band replaced three completed tracks with three brand new songs that Rick now considers among his favourites on the entire album. He also opened up about latest single “Stop,” which began life as a rough little demo made on a tiny OP1 keyboard before evolving into a huge, energetic anthem driven by frontman Danny McNamara’s philosophy that life is too short to panic about everything because we are all just flying through space on a giant rock anyway. Rick described the album as one of the band’s most varied records yet, packed with upbeat energy, introspective moments, and plenty of experimentation, while admitting the group is already writing another album they hope to release next year. Rick also gave a fascinating insight into how Embrace now works after nine albums together, explaining that the band has finally reached a stage where everyone fully understands each other’s strengths, weaknesses, and creative instincts. He revealed that songwriting remains incredibly fluid, with ideas constantly evolving through jam sessions, Pro Tools experimentation, and collaborative editing between the full band. Despite decades in music, Rick admitted disagreements can still feel personal when someone dislikes an idea you love, although the group ultimately shares the same goal of making the best music possible. He also discussed the realities of modern touring, revealing that planned US dates may be financially impossible because of visa and travel costs, while Australian festival talks have so far stalled too. Away from Embrace, Rick proudly spoke about his daughter Ella beginning her own music career, saying she has been writing incredible melodies since she was around 11 years old and insisting he wants her to succeed entirely on her own talent rather than being labelled a “nepo baby.” Facebook: www.facebook.com/thesoundlabyes TikTok: www.tiktok.com/@thesoundlabYES Threads: www.threads.net/@thesoundlabyes X (Twitter): www.x.com/TheSoundLabYES Instagram: www.instagram.com/TheSoundLabYES fresh* Spotify Playlist: www.tiny.cc/TSLspotify Interviews Unedited Spotify Podcast: www.tiny.cc/SpotifyPodcast International Radio Shows: www.mixcloud.com/thesoundlabuk #Embrace #NewMusic #Interview #musicinterview #music #podcast #musicpodcast #musician #singersongwriter #livemusic #indiemusic #musicblog #songwriter #artist #interviews #musicmagazine #singer #musicinterviews #artistinterview #youtube #youtubemusic #bandinterview #rocmusic #musicnews #musicproducer #live #musiciansofyoutube #checkthisout #love #funny #trend #trending #trendingmusic
