The scene is set at Leafy Lane Academy an all-through school covering Nursery to 6th Form. The staff from the primary department are meeting to discuss their progress on introducing more sustainability into their curriculum. It’s being chaired by the teacher responsible for the school’s Sustainability and Climate Change Action Plan. His name is Cyril Greening and he is in his second year of teaching, his main subject being PE taught mainly in the upper part of the school. The assembled teachers include the Head of School Mandy Token, newly appointed by the Traditional Academy Trust (TAT), following the departure of Colin Compliant and the abortive appointment of Peter Putapon (see last episode). Cyril comes over as submissive and apologetic due to his relative youth and inexperience.
