Strategy: Equal Groups – 6 × 34 For 6 × 34, I’ll represent 34 with base-ten blocks: 3 rods for tens and 4 unit cubes for ones. Since it’s 6 × 34, I’ll make six equal groups of 34. Now I’ll combine the blocks: Six groups of 3 tens equals 18 tens, which also equals 1 hundred and 8 tens. Six groups of 4 ones equals 24 ones, which also equals 2 tens and 4 ones. 8 tens plus 2 tens equals 10 tens and can be regrouped as 1 hundred Altogether, that’s 204. So, 6 × 34 = 204.
