Error in parse.... UTF-8 BOM Error when source an r-script from within rmarkdown

I tried to source - from within a rmarkdown file - an R-script that i Idownloaded from REDCap. I got the following error: Error in parse(n = -1, file = file, srcfile = NULL, keep.source = FALSE) : 1:2: unexpected input 1: ï» . My colleague Sophie googled the error and told me to open the file in a notebook, select UTF-8 without BOM . After saving the file - boom - everything went ok.
