Estimating Parameters
This is the first video in the Estimating Parameters Supplement to SCoRE, a Self-Study Course on Reaction Engineering (https://buffalobadger.github.io/SCoRE/). SCoRE is based on the online book, “Reaction Engineering Basics” (https://buffalobadger.github.io/RE_Basics/). In reaction engineering it is sometimes necessary to estimate the values of parameters that appear in rate expressions or reactor models. This video presents a general description of how to do that numerically when using single response data. 0:00 Intro 0:48 Single Response Data 2:23 Parameter Estimation Overview 3:16 Fitting Functions 4:07 Fitting Function Input 5:17 Predicted Responses Function 6:04 How Fitting Functions Work 7:18 Fitting Function Issues and Return Values 8:40 Parity and Residuals Plots 10:21 Formulating the Calculations for Parameter Estimation 11:58 Example of Formulation of Parameter Estimation Calculations 13:22 Parameter Estimation Summary I hope you found this video to be informative. Take care. Recorded July 2025
