Experimental piece somewhere between ambient, IDM and noise. Spaces, glitches, percussions that shift from slow to fast, soft to aggressive, and a granular kalimba ghost floating above everything. Lots of sidechaining between drums, grains and FX – a living, organic structure with quite clinical details. Not for every ear, but I Hope you enjoy the trip. Patch notes: Drums – Bastl Crust Bastl Crust sequenced by Metropolix, which is clocked by Mutable Grids. Grids track 1 clocks Metropolix; I manually modulate density and probabilities on both Grids and Metropolix. Metropolix pitch CV → crust SHAPE / timbral input. Gliss 1U outs A & B → crust control inputs and FM / index input Crust decay/envelope is modulated by a Maths LFO. Planar2 XY bipolar outs → Grids MAP X / MAP Y, recorded joystick movement reshapes the rhythm. Grids track 2 → clocking Harlequin’s Context, which cycles 4 scenes that modulate Multigrain X/Y. Granular kalimba – Multigrain A short kalimba sequence is recorded via the MEMS mic into Multigrain. Multigrain X/Y are modulated by Harlequin’s Context scenes; Z is modulated by a Maths LFO. X/Y/Z are assigned to different grain parameters (position, size, etc.), so the texture never settles. Multigrain custom outputs Output A = grain envelope. Output B = per-grain sample & hold. A & B modulate FX Wizard (TIME and AMOUNT) FX & sidechain Crust → FX Wizard (modulated by Multigrain A/B, plus internal CV and LFO for feedback and FX-mode switching). FX Wizard → Thyme+, whose Wet/Dry is modulated/“sidechained” by Env out to leave space. Multigrain → Desmodus Versio (Echo mode), giving the kalimba a deep, distant space. Desmodus is also sidechained from the FXwizardenvelope so the space opens and closes around the beat.
