Completed shortly before Wyeth's unexpected death in 1945, this somber work depicts a farmer and his daughter in the foreground, the young girl turned around, fixed on a light emanating from a farmhouse window, symbolizing her dying mother. This work is in the Brandywine's permanent collection and is currently on view in our second floor gallery through early November 2024.
