What's the difference between fault and responsibility? In this video, I break down different things that could go wrong in your meet and while it may not be your fault, it's still your responsibility to deal with it. In a meet, lots of things can go wrong from a bad call by a referee, spotters loading the wrong weight, spotters grabbing the bar early, a bad bench lift off, and more. These are some of the things I saw just a couple of weeks ago at the Arnold Sports Festival. But while it may not be the fault of the lifter, it still happened and it's the lifter's responsibility to be adaptable and adjust to what's going on in the moment. As an athlete, you have to be able to accept how the competition is being run and how the referees are making calls that sessions. And then you have to be willing to lift to the standards that are being set and pick attempts that you can hit to those standards. And if you haven't watched it already, you'll definitely want to check out my video on being process versus outcome-oriented next. My name is Arian Khamesi and I'm a Powerlifting Coach under The Strength Guys. In addition, I'm involved in the sport of Powerlifting as an athlete, meet director, referee, scoring manager, committee member, and more. On this channel, I produce videos that are beneficial for Powerlifting athletes, coaches, meet directors, and referees. The videos will be most applicable to those involved in an International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) affiliate, like Powerlifting America (PA), plus similar style federations like USA Powerlifting (USAPL). But many of the tips and tricks can also be used for those involved in other Powerlifting federations. You can use the links below to contact me and support me.
