Process Oriented vs Outcome Oriented Athletes | Powerlifting Tips
Are you a process-oriented or outcome-oriented athlete? Do you even know what either of these means and which is best for you? In this video, I break it all down! A process-oriented athlete is someone that emphasizes or focuses on processes, systems, or procedures rather than results or underlying causes. And an outcome-oriented athlete is someone who's the opposite, they're focusing on the end result. You want to focus, especially in the sport of powerlifting on your process rather than the outcome. One of the main reasons is that you can control your process but you can't control the outcome because there's no defense in the sport of powerlifting. As an athlete, you go out there and hit your attempts and your competitor goes out there and hits their attempts. You don't get to choose their attempts, you can't defend their attempts, and you don't even get to choose who shows or doesn't show to a particular competition. In addition, you can review your process and improve it each time. After a meet, you can analyze what things you did well and what things you can improve upon in the next training cycle. This again allows you to focus on what you can control, make improvements over time, and the outcome will come because of it. ❓Got any questions? Then comment below! The videos will be most applicable to those involved in an International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) affiliate, like Powerlifting America (PA), plus similar style federations like USA Powerlifting (USAPL). But many of the tips and tricks can also be used for those involved in other Powerlifting federations. You can use the links below to contact me and support me.
