Flexcom 8 - Offshore Production System

This video illustrates a complex offshore production system, modelled using Flexcom. The system is based on a bundled hybrid tower concept, which is typical of deep water production systems deployed in West of Africa field developments. Flexcom uses realistic vessel profiles to provide enhanced visual appeal. You may choose from a range of standard floating platforms, or insert your own customised vessel. Flexcom uses detailed coupled analysis to model floating bodies such as calm buoys. High frequency first order wave forces and low frequency second order wave drift effects may all be modelled. Model building is very straightforward with Flexcom. Although this model is very complex and contains over 3000 elements, it is very easy to assemble in Flexcom using the line modelling feature. Flexcom provides a premium pipe-in-pipe modelling feature which has underpinned the engineering design of some of the world's most complex riser bundle configurations. Although not utilized in this model, it is also possible to model Sliding Contact. For example, to simulate a flexible riser passing through a J-Tube. Internal fluid flow can be a critical issue for flow line and spool design. Flexcom has a detailed flow model, catering for centrifugal, coriolas and dynamic pressure effects. The internal fluid contents, such as density and velocity, may also vary over time, in order to accurately simulate intermittent slug flow. The software uses an industry proven finite element formulation, incorporating a hybrid beam column element with fully couple axial, bending and torque forces.
