"Flowers Instead" is one of the more personal songs I’ve written. At its core, it’s about anxiety, depression, self-worth, and learning how to turn pain into something useful instead of letting it consume you. The whole song is built around the idea that some of the darkest moments in life can become the soil you grow from if you let them. A lot of these lyrics came from reflecting on periods of my life where my own thoughts felt like a prison... where overthinking, anxiety, and self-doubt made it feel like I was trapped in my own head. But over time I started realizing that suffering doesn’t have to just break you, it can shape you too. So this song is really about that shift in perspective: taking all the hurt, confusion, anger, sadness, and fear that once dragged you down and using it to build something better out of yourself. Instead of drowning in the flood of sadness, find a way to turn that into something beautiful. Grow flowers instead.
