Welcome to the first devlog for Fractured Self — a slow-burn, atmospheric 3D narrative game made in Unity. In this episode I’m sharing the core concept and the design idea at the heart of the project: anchor-based shifts between first-person and third-person perspective. These shifts aren’t just a camera change — they’re how the game reveals meaning. The environment can contradict itself depending on viewpoint: paths appear or disappear, spaces recontextualise, and the player’s relationship to the Operative (and the world) changes. You play as the Operative, investigating anomaly reports on an abandoned sci-fi station. As the investigation unfolds, the space becomes less stable — and the experience becomes as much about identity as it is about exploration. This devlog series will track the project from concept to build, focusing on clear, teachable steps: design decisions, prototyping, iteration, and production workflow. If you enjoy reflective game dev, environmental storytelling, and mechanics that support theme, feel free to subscribe and follow along. #indiedev #devlog #unity3d #gamedev #narrativegame #scifi
