Function at Wrist complex#Wrist Complex biomechanics [Part-3]
Detailed and most simplified discussion on function at wrist complex. The wrist complex function is a complicated concept to understand because of the three link segment that exist between the radiocarpal joint and mid carpal joint. The three link segment is made of the radius and radioulnar disc, the proximal carpal row and distal carpal row. In this model the middle segment or the proximal carpal row works as an intercalated disc which usually collapse in opposite direction to the other two segments. The function at wrist complex which includes flexion extension and radial ulnar deviation involves a combination of function between this three segments. Theres segment wise movements in step by steps so that ultimately the function is done in total. The exact opposite of events takes place in flexion and extension and further the scaphoid acts as most mobile one and the capitate acts as center of the movement or keystone of wrist.
