Garner Grass Guidelines
In a 2025 Code of Ordinances update, Section 6-17 has been updated to include: - Any condition that can harbor or breed mosquitoes, rats, snakes, or other pests. - An area where weeds or grass grow over ten (10) inches tall. - An area overgrown with vegetation or yard waste over ten (10) inches tall. - An area of dense growth of vines, shrubs, weeds, or grasses over ten (10) inches tall, located between the property line and the curb, or if there’s no curb, the pavement edge of the nearest street. - An open area where combustible items like mattresses, boxes, paper, tires, trash, and old clothes are kept, as well as garbage, food waste, and any rotten materials. It includes furniture, appliances, and automotive parts with sharp edges, or any space that may harbor pests. - Construction demolition debris is only considered open if not contained in a dumpster, trailer, or truck bed. Received a notice of violation? Residents will have ten (10) days to remedy the violation without penalty. You may appeal in writing to the Inspections Director or their designee before the ten (10) day deadline.
