GOOD MORNING
The bodyweight good morning is a hinge-focused drill used to reinforce proper hip mechanics, posture, and control without added load. Reaching the hands out in front helps counterbalance the movement, encouraging a straighter back position while isolating the hinge pattern. Instead of bending through the spine, the goal is to shift the hips back while maintaining tension and alignment through the torso. This makes the movement an effective way to groove cleaner hinge mechanics before progressing to loaded variations. What this builds: Hip hinge mechanics and awareness Posterior chain engagement Trunk positioning and control Movement efficiency for swings, deadlifts, and cleans Use this in warm-ups, movement prep, or as a foundational hinge drill for newer lifters. It’s especially useful for teaching the difference between hinging at the hips and bending through the lower back. If you feel this more in your lower back than your hips and hamstrings, slow down and clean up the hinge first. #hiphinge #deadlifttechnique #movebetterfeelbetter #hamstringexercise #posteriorchain
