August 16-18, 2025 Beaver!, the first in four years. It appeared without warning, gliding across the meager surface of Otter Pond and disappearing into a tangle of reeds. The two Christmas amaryllis are brought out of basement darkness and set up on the south deck to see if any signs of life might revive in the next few weeks. I brainlessly predict that the remaining uncut, and unsplit, firewood chunks leftover from last year will be enough to get through this coming winter. Life on the bog is about living life in the slow lane, observing and recording the artistry and serenity of the natural world. Insley and I live together on forty-acres of forest and bog, sharing frequent moments of unexpected wonder.
