Interconnections October 7-11, 2025 Hiking the property, now that the leaves are clearing out, I study the lifecycles, the generations of trees, from tiny to ancient. I also discover a menacing "widowmaker," swinging from a poplar branch fifty feet above the driveway. And, I finally get an answer to months of speculation over a suspected buckthorn threat. LIFE ON THE BOG chronicles life lived closely within the natural world of northern Minnesota, its seasonal shifts, observing the wildlife passing through and the rhythms advancing: grouse drumming, peepers screeching, trumpeter swans tooting, tree frogs keening, grosbeaks fluting.
