Hecq - Giants

Track 8/12, from Night Falls (Hymen Records ¥767). The train is still going forward as we can hear it through this track. But we definitely passed a new step here. You are now floating into a dense nebula that could totally be like a cumulo-nimbus on earth : no visibility but under a constant threat of unexpected climatic events. And then you hear it, regular in the background : a cold and deep breeze, sounding like an inhaling and exhaling creature. The thunder is rumbling in endless echoes, the thunderbolts are crossing the celestial clouds and momentarily illuminating the space ; it looks like a place of creation, where the occuring events are just beyond our understanding. And then they appear : several gigantic colossus coming all around you from the clouds. Monolithic giants surprisingly agile given their dimensions, and even if they are made of some sort of mineral, their expression carved in stone and their implacable look command respect. The choirs are back, but they are not the little reassuring ones you heard before, they sound deeper, more powerful and inquisitor. Strangely enough, you understand what they are saying, and realize they are talking to you : " Do you belong here ? Do you deserve it ? Do you think you can afford a passage to your goal ? " They are not only powerful spirits of the world in-between, but probably the entities that participated in a way or an other to the creation of the universe. The guardians of the ultimate sanctuary in the afterlife. Their voices slowly fade out, but you don't know yet if you successfully passed the trial.
