It didn't take long for users of the first personal computers to get tired of flipping switches and pushing buttons to load hand assembled machine code. The limited teletype/punch devices available during that time made the write, assemble, load, and test process of machine language code very tedious. What was needed was a common environment that could do all those things from a single teletype session. The thing that could do all that at the time was a BASIC interpreter. This video demonstrates the various BASIC interpreters used on the earliest personal computers like the IMSAI 8080, Altair 8800, and Scelbi 8H. They are all demonstrated running on a home made 8080 computer built especially for this video series.
