In this video I demonstrate how to use the Time In Daylight tool using the WhitbeoxTools front end, WhiteboxRunner. The Time In Daylight tool is a unique tool to Whiteboxtools that exists within the Open-core. This tool calculates the proportion of time a location is within daylight. That is, it calculates the proportion of time, during a user-defined time frame, that a grid cell in an input DEM is outside of an area of shadow cast by a local object. It could serve as a useful environmental covariate for predicative modelling and agricultural/digital soils mapping applications.
