Draining your central heating system is a simple job—you don’t need to buy a special kit or call a plumber. All you need is a Jubilee clip and a hose (I used a garden hose).
You drain the system when you need to replace parts, remove debris, or bleed the system to improve efficiency. It helps keep your heating working properly.
Turn off the boiler and water supply, then find the drain valve (usually at the lowest point). Attach the hose with the Jubilee clip and direct it outside or into a drain. Open the valve, and the water will flow out. Once empty, you can carry out your repairs or cleaning. When finished, refill the system, bleed the radiators, and check for leaks before turning the heating back on.
