Usually it is easier than regular pull up, so many people start doing pull ups by practicing this variation. By doing them you will put emphasis on you back and lats. Process of learning neutral grip pull ups is not much different from learning regular pull up. After you master regular neutral grip pull up, you can do more complex variations, like wide neutral grip pull ups or weighted neutral grip pull up. I recommend to included neutral grip variation into your regular pull ups routine. Here are the steps you need to cover in order to learn this move: Neutral Grip Pull Ups Tutorial Steps: Technique -grab the parallel bars -you can choose the grip width that suits you the best -the wider the grip, the harder will be to perform the move -start from the bottom position, where your arms are straight -engage your entire body -pull your body up until your chin is above the bar -lower yourself down to the starting position Progression 1.Deadhang -aim for at least 15 sec hold 2.Active deadhang -aim for at least 10 sec hold 3.Isometric hold - upper position -aim for at least 10 sec hold 4.Negatives -aim for at least 5 reps 5.Assisted neutral grip pull ups (resistance bands-both legs) -aim for at least 5 reps 6.Assisted neutral grip pull ups (resistance bands-one leg) -aim for at least 3 reps 7.Assisted neutral grip pull ups (with the help of the friend) -aim for at least 3 reps Variations 1.Close neutral grip pull ups 2.Wide neutral grip pull ups 3.Regular neutral grip pull ups 4.Explosive neutral grip pull ups 5.Weighted neutral grip pull ups 6.Archer neutral grip pull ups There you go!
