How to procedurally animate an explosion
In this video I demonstrate how to create procedural explosion animations using graph substitution techniques, without using any animated sprites whatsoever. I show how a tetrahedral graph structure can be iteratively substituted and translated to produce realistic explosion effects that expand outward naturally. I explain the mathematical principles behind vertex substitution, edge translation to avoid crossings, and progressive scaling for authentic explosion dynamics. All of this is implemented from scratch as part of my 2D shooter game where every animation is procedurally generated.
