On assessment the first arm didn't have a favorable vein to puncture for ultrasound guided peripheral iv piv insertion because of the nerve bundle covering the left brachial vein and the muscle covering the right brachial vein. I try not to puncture the muscle if I can avoid it but will do it in special circumstances. I checked the contralateral arm and as you can see it had a much more viable vein for ultrasound guided peripheral iv piv insertion.
Needle in the vein? Check! Now, it's time to advance the catheter smoothly and consistently. It's key to keep a steady hand to avoid any hitches! #vascularaccess #TVG #nurse #doctor
