(139) The 100th IDEvolution is dedicated to Mr. Michael Hui.
1970s was where the Hui's brothers and the golden age of Hong Kong entertainment industry started to meet. Michael is the multi-talented actor-scriptwriter-director; Ricky is the sympathetic sidekick; Samuel is the handsome protagonist who also sings and writes lyrics. From Games Gamblers Play (1974), The Private Eyes (aka Mr Boo, 1976), to Security Unlimited (1981), the Hui's comedies brought Hong Kong tons of laughter with down-to-earth satirical wits and wisdom.
Hui's Film was founded by Michael Hui in 1974, with an ident that did not appear in print copies of its first 7 films but only in posters and newspaper ads. It's not until mid-1980s its first animated ident kicked in at Happy Din Don (1986). In late 1980s Hui's became independent from Golden Harvest and made a few films with its second animated, golden-plated H-ident. The recent 老許記 ident, seen in the documentary The Posterist (2016), features a duck which resembles the one appeared in the logotype of Chicken and Duck Talk (1988).
