I'm digging a 3' hole to install a 4x4 post to replace a horrendously installed Newel Post on my deck's stairs. The problem is that I discovered a boulder 16" down, and there's no way to get around it without major demolition. Can I use the boulder as a foundation, and how would you go about attaching it?
