Influential Kingdom

You'll notice in this song that I mix some rather negative similes with the more positive ones that Jesus spoke of, as at times we spread a message that is not entirely consistent with the Kingdom of God, but has influence anyhow. Is there a way we can be only a positive influence with the actual message of the Kingdom of God, and not mix in our own negative poisoning of the spiritual environment, or our own invasive species that might choke out the true message? [verse] Just what is the kingdom of our Savior like And to what will his sovereign realm compare? It is like a seed of mustard, small as a speck of dust Yet grows into a tree to house the birds of the air Do we plant within our garden what we know will overwhelm? Count the cost of being consumed by what we share? [verse] And again, to what shall I compare the kingdom of our God By what simile could I approximate? It is like the leaven that a woman puts within her dough In the flour that she kneads upon the plate Does the kingdom word we share seem to work throughout the world? Does our influence Your kingdom reinstate? [verse] Are there other ways I could explain, so you will understand? Could I communicate to you another way? Like an ocean-going tanker spilling oil along the shore How the oil spreads throughout a land-locked bay Does our message spread, affecting all creation that we see? Is our influence still widening today? [verse] Do I recognize the fact that Your great kingdom is alive Taking over like the scotch-broom in the hills? Like the berry vines a-wandering throughout the forest glens Climbing trees, guarding the banks of brooks that spill Does our message seem a threat to all other forms of life? Are we permeating culture with Your will?
