Inside ERITREA without a guide - Asmara #1

I fly into Asmara International Airport after a long visa process to get into Eritrea and straight away realise this place isn’t like anywhere else I’ve been. No guide, no real plan — just trying to figure things out as I go in Asmara. I get asked some pretty odd questions, run into issues trying to sort permits, and generally realise how controlled and complicated travel here can be. But even with all that, Asmara is fascinating. It’s quiet, almost frozen in time, with this strange mix of Italian architecture, empty streets, and a feeling you’re somewhere very few people actually get to experience properly. Not your smooth travel vlog at all — more of a “see what happens” kind of trip in one of the most unique capitals I’ve ever visited. Filmed March 25th 2026
