INSYDIUM Training - Granular Collapse

In this in-depth tutorial, we use X-Particles and NeXus to simulate the dramatic collapse of a sculpture triggered by an internal explosion. Using NeXus fluids in Granular mode, we create highly realistic animations of sand and snow particles then add the NeXus Explode modifier to generate a powerful blast from within the sculpture’s volume. The video dives into data mapping techniques for fine control over both the explosion and the granular collapse dynamics. We also explore meshing strategies to render the particles as snow and demonstrate how to craft a convincing snow material in Redshift using a blend of subsurface scattering and transmission effects—perfect for creating production-ready, cinematic simulations.
