This video provides a brief overview of interpreting confidence intervals. This is a two-step process.
1) Look for the null value. For a difference, this is 0. For a ratio, this is 1. If this value is present, then we can't reject the null hypothesis.
2) Look for the smallest meaningful value. In clinical research, this is the minimal clinically-important difference (MCID). This could also be the minimal detectable change (MDC) or some value that seems large enough to impact a person.
