Supported by a six-year, $22M grant from the National Science Foundation, the NSF BioFoundry for Extreme and Exceptional Fungi, Archaea, and Bacteria (ExFAB) is developing first-of-their-kind user platforms and equipment to enable the discovery, phenotyping, and engineering of extreme microbes to harness their power and promise to enable the next generation of synthetic biology. The NSF ExFAB BioFoundry, led by UC Santa Barbara, is a proud collaboration between UCSB, UC Riverside, and Cal Poly Pomona.
