John Session 1

Cross Country Fellowship Bible Study of the Book of John. This session was an introduction to the Book of John and we studied John chapter 1, verses 1 through 13. The Gospel of John is different from the other Gospels. It does not begin with Jesus' birth or any other event. It begins with a description of of who Jesus is. It clearly states that Jesus is God. This John's theme. Jesus gave up all that He had in heaven and allowed Himself to be born as a human baby. He grew up in a very poor family. But He was and still is God. The people of Israel did not recognize Him as God. They refused to accept Him as God, the Messiah. But Jesus loved us so much that He willingly allowed Himself to be rejected, persecuted, tortured, and murdered on the cross. But He rose from the dead on the third day. Sin earns spiritual death. Jesus died in our place so we won't have to die for our sin. John's Gospel explains that when we trust in Jesus, God adopts us into His family and we will have eternal life with Him.
