Kaos Arcade

The game features single-player or alternating two-player gameplay on a vertical raster color monitor. Controls consist of a two-way joystick for left and right movement plus a jump button. The core objective revolves around collecting falling gold coins (dollars) on multi-tiered, horizontally moving platforms before they reach the bottom. Gameplay begins with the player controlling a white-clad, red-haired mustachioed character who runs and jumps across shifting platforms. Coins drop onto the platforms and move with them. Catching a set number of coins, as indicated on-screen, advances the level. If a coin falls through the bottom gap, it transforms into a dragon-like monster that poses a lethal threat on contact. The player must then eliminate these monsters to complete the stage. Special power-ups called Ergs appear as green triangular symbols with eyes near the top of the screen, resembling elements of the Eye of Providence. Grabbing one temporarily transforms the player into a crowned, sword-wielding king figure. This grants the ability to destroy dragons for bonus points (worth significantly more than coins) and increases movement speed, though vulnerability to platform edges and gaps remains. The power-up lasts a limited time, roughly twenty seconds. Early levels restrict movement at screen edges with electrocution hazards, while later stages introduce wrap-around, walls on platforms, invisible sections, and more complex layouts that allow monsters to re-enter from the top after falling off the bottom. Progression increases difficulty through added obstacles, tighter platform arrangements, and more demanding coin and monster management. Collision detection for jumps through gaps and enemy behaviors can feel imprecise or abrupt at times, contributing to a somewhat unpolished but distinctive feel. The game rewards careful positioning on moving platforms, timely Erg collection, and efficient monster clearing, blending collection, platforming, and light combat elements in a greed-themed vertical maze-like structure.
