Knitting Tutorial: Learn how to make the Duplicate stitch
🧶 Dive into the world of knitting with the newest tutorial! Discover the art of creating the Duplicate stitch in today's step-by-step guide. Duplicate stitch, also known as Swiss darning or over embroidery, is a knitting technique used to add color or design to a finished knitted piece. Here's a step-by-step tutorial on how to do duplicate stitches. Materials Needed: finished knitted piece, yarn in desired contrasting color, tapestry needle. Step 1: Choose Your Design Decide on the design or pattern you want to add to your knitted piece. It could be letters, shapes, or any other motif you like. Step 2: Thread the Yarn Needle Cut the contrasting yarn's length, ensuring it's long enough to complete your design without needing to rethread the needle frequently. Thread the yarn through the eye of the yarn needle. Step 3: Identify the Stitches Look at your knitted piece and identify the stitches you want to cover with the duplicate stitch. Step 4: Anchor the Yarn Bring the threaded needle from the back of the work to the front at the base of the stitch you want to duplicate. Leave a short tail at the back to secure the yarn. Step 5: Duplicate the Stitch Following the path of the original stitch, insert the needle under the legs of the V-shaped stitch. From right to left insert your tapestry needle under both legs of the stitch above the stitch you are working, and pull the yarn to cover the right side of the V. Then, insert the needle vertically into the base of the V you are working and pocking your needle up through the center of the stitch you are working on, and pull the yarn through. Step 6: Repeat Continue duplicating stitches, following the pattern of the original knitting. Keep the tension similar to the surrounding stitches to maintain the fabric's integrity. Step 8: Finish Off To finish off, weave the yarn tail through the last few duplicate stitches on the wrong side of the fabric. Trim any excess yarn, leaving a small tail to prevent unraveling. _________________________________________________________________________ 🔔 Don't miss out on future tutorials, designs, and exclusive offers – hit that subscribe button and stay in the loop! 🧵 Connect with WoollyWood beyond YouTube: - Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/woollywood/ - Etsy: https://woollywoodua.etsy.com - Ravelry: https://www.ravelry.com/designers/anna-radchenko - Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/woollywood - Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.ca/woollywoodua/ 🌟 Follow me on social media for even more knitting inspiration!
