It is the birthplace of Je Tsongkhapa, the great teacher who founded the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism. In this, we sit in one of the morning rituals and visit various parts of the temple, giving offerings. It was more profound than the film lays out--much of it I missed because I was immersed in the moment; however, I did manage to capture a couple of moments that give the essence of the place. We were fortunate enough to know a lama there that showed us around and kindly made us a traditional breakfast (zanba).
