Categories are the top level of organization in a Layer project.
In this video, you will learn how categories work, how they function like tables, and how individual items and fields are used to store and manage project data. We walk through a products category to show how rows represent individual items and columns represent fields like cost, quantity, images, and status.
You will also see how to create new fields, assign different field types, search and filter category data, and create new items with unique values. The video introduces views as a way to see the same category data in different ways and briefly shows how categories can be created from scratch, imported from spreadsheets, or built from templates.
This lesson also explains how model categories work and how they differ from standard categories by tying each item directly to an element in the Revit model.
