In this lecture, requirement of frequency estimation for certain applications including smart-grid is discussed. Further, different methods used for frequency estimation is also highlighted. Finally, the method based on zero crossing detection is deliberated alongwith appropriate example. Further, drawbacks of zero crossing detection method is also described.
