This Postural Restoration exercise is used primarily to build strength in the external rotation fibers of the right glute max after pelvic repositiong. In the typical left AIC pattern, the right glute loses abduction and external rotation strength. Without this particular strength, the right leg doesn't effectively push your weight over to the left side as you are walking and running. You also lose power since your right leg isn't externally rotating efficiently as you push forward. While walking, running, and lifting weights are primarily viewed as sagittal plane activities (front to back) there is also an internal rotation/adduction and external rotation/abduction component. Without these movements working properly, you won't have proper muscle activation as you move. To be clear, this exercise is used after pelvic repositioning. It can be used to reposition a pelvis, but the only way to know if it works is through PRI testing, which requires someone who knows PRI.
