Left Sidelying Right Glute Max is a Postural Restoration technique that is used to develop right glute abduction and external rotation strength.
It's necessary to "push" you to the left. Lack of abduction strength during gait is a huge deal but this right glute strength is also important for stabilizing the pelvis on the right side.
In the absence of right glute strength you'll use your right adductor and right hip flexors to stabilize.
