Lille Eastern Cemetery
Lille Eastern Cemetery, or Cimetière Est de Lille as they say locally, is situated a short walk from Lille Europe train station, or Gare Lille-Europe as they say locally. Like many French city cemeteries, the families of the great and good like to adorn their graves with busts or a likeness of their dear departed, or include other sculptures of grieving women and/or cherubs, or have a statue of Jesus personally watching over them. When the Palais des Beaux-Arts de Lille is closed or you want to avoid the (reasonable) admittance fee then you can come and marvel at the sculptures in Lille Eastern Cemetery for free. This video features (in order) the graves of Victor Tilmant, Decottignies, Elisa de Try, Antoine Brasseur and Dumoulin, Maurice Planoue, Delebart et Mallet family, Hirschmann, Convain, Mulie et Delecailt, C Manso, Faidherbe, Henri Boulanger, Victor Druez, Antoine Brasseur and Dumoulin (again), Albert Eugene Leon Baert, Houyet, Melchior, Albert Darco, C Manso (again), Clementine Verhack, Eugene Roche, Honore Voisin, Alphonse Colas, Edmond Deblock, Dumoulin, Gneray, Charles Saint Venant, Antoine Brasseur (for a 3rd time), and finishing off with a close up of Maurice Planoue, again who featured earlier. There may be some mistakes in recording the names of the individual or family. The backing track, is an original composition, called ‘Blue Skies Appear After Rain’. The video was shot with an Insta360 Ace Pro and a Pixel 10 Pro on Sunday 01 March 2026.
