Rooted in the deep cultural memory of cumbia, their performances traverse ancestral rhythms, digital experimentation, and speculative imagery, crafting a sonic ritual where Indigenous, Afro-Colombian, and mestizo traditions are reimagined through code. Through live-coded sound and real-time visual improvisation, the duo collapses the space between tradition and technology. Their current set explores cumbia rebajada, the slowed-down cumbia style that emerged in Northern Mexico, embracing slowness as both sonic texture and cultural strategy, a temporal resistance to the hyper-acceleration of digital life. Active members of TOPLAP Bogotá, Rafael Díaz and Rafael Puyana are also behind projects like Rafrobeat, La Salpicodera, and Sumergentes. They have been shaping Colombia’s live coding scene since 2017, offering workshops, performances, and sonic experiments that push the boundaries of electronic folklore.
