Livelock Akimbo Monarchs
Are they still SMGs if they're chambered in BMG? Credits: Catalyst quotes - Ilana Zacken/Perfect World Entertainment/Tuque Games Livelock is one of my favorite comfort games and an awesome top down shooter with awesome scale, Warhammer tier lore and hardcore weapons: From 20mm burst guns to 2 gauge shotguns to laser guided rocket machine guns and industrial welding lasers retrofitted into rifles. Yet for all the weapons, Catalyst's Monarch dual .50 caliber sub machine guns have always intrigued me the most: If not for the cool concept, then most definitely for being a testbed to combine both my first akimbo animation with my first attempt at being deliberately robotic. It was a bit of an uphill battle with plenty of unlearning that pushed my weaker computer for okish results, with bits of clipping, but it was still a fun experience to undertake with great opportunities. I'll certainly be coming back to either, but I should probably learn to make a good robot reload AND a good akimbo before I splice both. Made in Blender 4.0 and rendered at 60 FPS in Cycles with 200 samples and a noise threshold of 0.1. And the song is "Push and Pull" by TAGE and published to Epidemic Sounds. I liked the sort of hardcore rock combined with flecks of sci-fi, but my sound effects are going to go through a bit of a turbulent period after Epidemic merged with Soundly and have pulled all of their legacy sound effects. I'll see how I go for now, but might need to find a new library in future. Otherwise, the next video's going to also be ambitious and paying tribute to another excellent top down shooter that my friend's been begging me to do. Then after that I want to hone in on community requests. But until then, have a good one!
