LocalSend: An Offline, Alternative File Transfer System LocalSend is an open-source, offline alternative file transfer system. 00:00 Download QuickShare 00:12 LocalSend Scan 00:20 Using LocalSend 00:29 Setting LocalSend Auto Receive 00:47 QuickShare setting faster 01:20 Dends to multiple devices 01:42 Solution transfer file Windows, Android, AndroidTV, Linux, Mac versions Similar to Apple's AirDrop, it can send files over a local network, but it does not require a Wi-Fi router (like AirDrop works between iPhones using wireless systems to detect other devices). LocalSend works similarly by detecting devices that have the program activated. However, these devices must be on the same network, such as Wi-Fi or LAN, and be part of the same subnet. The LocalSend program is free, as it is an open-source development. You can download from localsend.org, for Windows Linux, Mac https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.localsend.localsend_app&hl=id It is cross-platform compatible, meaning devices running Windows, Android (including Android TV), Linux, and Mac can all receive and send files. LocalSend is used for P2P (Peer-to-Peer) file transfer. Devices running the LocalSend app or program can automatically discover each other. For example, if Computer A, Phone B, and Android TV C all activate the program, the three devices will appear on each other's screens. Its primary function is to make it easy to send files to another device, whether it belongs to a friend, a family member, or to send files, pasted text, or notes from one of your devices to another. For instance, if you have a movie file on your computer and want to send it to your Android TV. You can set up LocalSend to activate when the Android TV boots up. The active LocalSend program on the Android TV will be in Receive Mode. On the computer, the Android TV will appear among the devices running LocalSend. From the computer, you simply select the file (or even an entire folder) you want to send and click on the Android TV's name. The file/folder is instantly sent. LocalSend is unlike other transfer programs that can sometimes be complicated. It is easier than an FTP system, as you don't need to configure a login or password, which is ideal for internal transfers within a secured environment like a home network. The files transferred have no size limit. The setup display is simple. The main part is Send, and the default stand-by position after the program is active is Receive. How LocalSend Works LocalSend utilizes the REST API protocol and HTTPS encryption over the local home/office network. It can perform device discovery. When the program is active, it automatically searches for any other devices running LocalSend.
