LOCK DOWN CHALLENGE—DAY5
LOCK DOWN CHALLENGE—DAY5: Kettlebility invites you to join our Lock Down Challenge! Each day we will present an exercise or movement pattern that you can perform at home. They can be performed loaded (kettlebell, dumbbell, bottle of water) or with just bodyweight. The important thing will be to explore the movement, and get all your repetitions completed by the end of your day 👍 It's all about the UPPER BUTT on DAY5! Did you know that your Gluteus Medius (GM) is a very important muscle in your body? If you walk, sit, stand, step, crouch, roll, lunge, jump, swing, Get Up, press, deadlift, crawl, run, or skip, your GM helps to stabilize your pelvis and protect your back. It helps you move your legs in all different directions and is the big helper muscle for hip extension, which is SUPER important for walking, running, standing...(see list above)...without compromising your lower back. The Curtsy Toe Touch, some folks call it the Curtsy Lunge, is an EXCELLENT movement for activating and isolating your GM. Remember to keep your weight in your heel, and your front leg knee back and your hips high. Play around with your movement and see how different knee and hip placement will change WHERE you feel the burn. Pro tip: make sure that your rear foot is in the same horizontal line as your front heel, keep it as FORWARD as possible, and lastly, your front leg may not fully extend or lock out, this is good (good=burn). Your goal today is to get 200 reps total, in sets of 10 at a time for each leg! Your complete LOCK DOWN CHALLENGE-DAY5 training protocol: -- After you get all your 200 Curtsy Toe Touches in, finish with: -- 1 unloaded or loaded Get Up each side -- 5 Perfect Pushups of your choice -- 10 bodyweight squats -- The complete DAY4 Flow ENJOY!
